A celebration of life

Gene's personal AND auction families participated in a celebration of his life on Saturday, September 12th from 1-4pm at "The Auction House"

Eugene Leland “Gene” Paine was born on August 16, 1935 to Lester and Faye Paine in Martin, South Dakota. Gene grew up in Kennewick, Washington and after serving in the United States Air Force where he was an air traffic controller; he attended college in Sacramento and ultimately earned a Doctorate of Pharmacology from Idaho State University. Gene subsequently went on to earn a law degree from McGeorge School of Law and entered private practice.

His interest in law ultimately led him to work for the California State Legislature and upon his retirement, he and his beloved wife Betty, started “The Auction House” in Sacramento, California.

In addition to running The Auction House, Gene and Betty were proud supporters of Duck’s Unlimited, where Gene served as auctioneer for fundraisers and other charities too numerous to mention.

Gene was a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to all who knew him. Gene was predeceased by his parents and younger brother Keith, as well as his first wife, Monica, and his second wife, Rosemary.

Gene left this life on September 7, 2009 after a brief illness, with his family at his side.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Betty, his children, Steve, Maureen, Anne, Leslie, Tony, and Rhonda and his grandchildren, Erika, Gillian, Sean, Isabella, Dominic, Nicole, Olivia, and his beloved Aunt Berneda and his brother Daryl, well as many nieces and nephews.

We wish him Aloha and entrust him to God’s loving care, until we are blessed to see him again.

Please join us for a celebration of Gene’s life on Saturday, September 12, 2009 from 1P.M. until 4 P.M., at The Auction House, in Sacramento. Wear your Hawaiian shirt and bring a favorite story to share.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Ducks Unlimited or the charity of your choice.
